Aims of Progetto Donna

The "Progetto Donna" ('woman project') was established by the 'Legge Regionale 19 Aprile 1995 n. 22', (Regional Law, 19th of April 1995, no. 22), and afterwards it was modified by the 'Legge Regionale n.7, 2nd of Maggio 2001' (Regional Law no. 7, 2nd of May 2001).
The Calabria Region, through the institution of the "Progetto Donna", recognizes value to the thought and activities of Calabrian women.
The project is an expression of the political subjectivity of the Calabrian women, it could support their rights, point out their needs, promote courses of freedom.
So, it releases informations, it works out projects, and it suggests, to the competent bodies, the allotment of contributions to realize studies, researches, and activities of service about life and working conditions, health, sexuality and violence, courses of freedom of Calabrian women; moreover, it brings out and supports the Calabrian women associations, connecting the associations and their projects with the regional institution.
To pursue the aims of "Progetto Donna", it was established a Regional Coordination, that makes a use of an apposite Department for its activity,in the Headship of Regional Council (Presidenza della Giunta Regionale).
The Regional Coordination:
a) works out every year a plan of activities to finance through expendable funds;
b) suggests projects and plans to finance through regional, national, and Community funds;
It works in four Sectors of intervention; Work, Information, Services, and Culture.
This regional law provides the institution of a Register of Calabrian women Association, with iscription through a public notification.
