Vth Edition

L’Associazione Internazionale delle Donne per la Comunicazione

MEDiterranean MEDIA

organizes

a literary competion for:

young authoresses and beginning authoresses

The competion is addressed to young authoresses, not older than 35,
and to beginning authoresses at their first literary experience, without age limit.
The competion will be divided into two sessions:

Short stories                     Fiction

(4-5 pages of 30 lines)                          (min. 100 pages)

The subject of the competion is

Conflicts

The plot of the competion is based on one's own personal experience: it's necessary writing stories in the first person, stories of relations marked by sexual difference; direct testimonies of events lived in one's own place and of "movings" towards other places, towards other realities. The conflicts inside and outside oneself constitute the plot of the story.
The choice of this subjects rises from awareness that on our planet wars and conflicts have got more and more frequent and numerous. Many of these conflicts are hardly unknown and people barely knows their tragic consequences. Their effects, whether they are wars taking place far and far from our countries, or they alternate near the Balkans and in the Middle East, are anyway felt inside our homes, reverberate on economical and political choices of our governments, on our habits and behaviours,on relations we set up.
Our society, considered a democratic one, is animated by conflicts of class and kind, by cultural and social contrapositions, by religious and racial, familiar and generational antagonisms.

Participants can treat the subject in its different meanings and shades: from real wars to the quarrels about international law; from social conflicts to individual, interior conflicts; from remote wars to conflicts rising inside home or prison.

Publication, promotion and distribution of the work is guaranteed to the winners.
Their work will be inserted in the multimedial data-bank "The stories of Med" and will not be given back.

The interested writers must send 4 copies of their work, printed and on floppy-disk, before next March,28th, together with a short curriculum vitae to:
